Itinerary

Most of our tour itineraries & packages are private as we aim to clear the ground for purely-cultural experiences while maintaining the delivery of personal service. However, we may take shared bookings on some occasions when the group (maximum 8) is already set. The featured price can change based on the number of passengers & the category of the Riads/hotels & Desert camp.

Day 1 – Casablanca – Azrou – Midelt

After your breakfast at your hotel, we will set out on our journey to Azrou which you will find in the heart of the Middle Atlas. We will have our picnic in the cedar forest where you will get to see a lot of monkeys, after which we will head to the popular Michlifen extinct volcano which has been discovered to be very rich in Magna and olivine.

We will then set out to the Jurassic site found close to Timahdite. This location has been discovered to be rich in Speriferes and Brachiopods bivalves. Then if there is more time left, we can also visit the cretaceous site, which is close to Bakrit and is discovered to be rich in teeth of the black shark. When this is over, you will have a wonderful experience at a 3-star hotel located in Midelt.

Day 2 – Explore The Mines Near Midelt

After your rest and breakfast, we will depart from the hotel and head straight to Mibladen mines. This place has an abundance of barythe cerusite. You may also discover vanadinites but on very rare occasions. From here on, we will continue to the old mine of Ahouli where we will have a firsthand experience of the old types of equipment used for mining operations.

Picnic follows in the valley very close by and after which our journey continues to Sidi Ayad where we will collect fluorite and azurite malachite. This will be our last stop for the day and in the evening we will head back to our hotel in Midelt.

Day 3 – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erg Chebbi

After breakfast, our tour takes us to Ziz gorges. Here we will be collecting brachiopods bivalves which are from Jurassic, then we head to the Ziz valley where we will be collecting from cretaceous Cenomanian echinoderms Cidaris Micrasteres.

Our picnic takes place in the valley and then we move out to Erfoud city. Our evening will be spent in the dunes of Erg Chebbi, after which we will retire for the night in the inn.

Day 4 – Explore The Mines Near Merzouga

After our breakfast, we set out to the south of Merzouga close to Mifis mine. This mine has an abundance of lead and manganese but has so far been abandoned. Although, occasionally, individuals go there in search of barytine. From here we will visit the river beds of Paleo Kemkem where will find a lot of bones from fishes, crocodiles and dinosaurs.

Our picnic will hold here, after which we will visit Filon 12 an old mine rich in quartz, Citrine, Vanadinite and among others. Then we will move to the Devonian bed which has an abundance of rolled Phacops. In the evening we will head back to our hotel at Erg Chebbi.

Day 5 – Explore The Mines Near Merzouga

After our breakfast, our tour continues north to Merzouga where we will be collecting Goniatites which are made from Goethite which is pyritised mostly by big explosions. We head to Devonian where we will collect enrolled Devonian trilobite, and then to the sand roses located at the border.

Our picnic will be at the sacred oasis where we will find a lot of palm trees. From here we will collect bones of crocodiles, fishes and dinosaurs in a cretaceous site called Safsaf. In the evening we will head back to our hotel at Erg Chebbi.

Day 6 – Merzouga – Alnif

Our tour continues on day 6 with a visit to the popular mine called Erfoud quarry ten crinoids where we will see the process of extraction, and then we will move to Boutchrafine mount and collect Devonian trilobites.

We will take our picnic under a palm tree and in the afternoon we will visit the factory where the cutting of the big blocs are done to produce dishes, tables, decoration items and bookends among other things. From here we will move to Alnif and spend our evening in Half Board at a small hotel.

Day 7 – Explore The Mines Near Alnif

On day 7, we will pay a visit to the Cambrian mine where we will find big Trilobites like Paradoxidises and Cambropalace. We will have our picnic in the desert, and later in the afternoon, we will pay a visit to the Ordovician mine of Calymes and Flexicalymenes de Jbel Tiskaouine. In the evening, we head back to our hotel at Alnif.

Day 8 – Alnif – Mharch

On day 8, we will be visiting a place called the Jbel Isoumour Trilobite post paradise. We will also visit the Laatchana riche where will find various types of trilobites. After the picnic, in the afternoon we will be collecting black peritised Lakrabis there. In the evening we will retire to a family inn at Mharch.

Day 9 – Mharch – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate

On day 9 we will head back to Alnif where we will be visiting the Serradrar site in Silurian which has an abundance of Orthoceras. We will then head to the Draa valley which is rich in Ordovician trilobites which are big parts of geant trilobites. In the evening we will retire to Ouarzazate’s 3-star hotel.

Day 10 – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate

On day 10, we will go on an excursion to the Eocene site close to the popular Kasbah Ait-Ben-Haddou Universal Heritage Centre. Here we will be collecting nautilus mycrasters and echinoderms. We head back to our hotel in the evening.

Day 11 – Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech

On day 11 we will be crossing the high atlas through the Tichka pass. We will have our picnic at midday with the miners at the Sidi Rahal mine which has an abundance of amethyste agate chalcedonies. We will then head to Marrakech where we will spend our evening at a 3-star hotel.

Day 12 – Marrakech

Day 12 will be our day off where you can decide to carryout out other activities in Marrakech.

Day 13 – Marrakech – Casablanca

Spend the first half-day exploring Marrakech and then transfer to Casablanca. Visit Hassan II Mosque and return back to the hotel.

Day 13 – Marrakech – Casablanca Airport

It is now time to say goodbye to beautiful Morocco. We let you go with the hope that you will surely return someday. We even hope that you had a wonderful journey and made a plethora of memories to cherish.
