You may want to include a short break by the women Argan Cooperative to learn how Argan oil is being extracted from the seeds and how this process is being done using traditional methods. Essaouira is a small fortified town and, therefore, easy to navigate without the need for a tour guide’s services. In the late afternoon, your private driver will transport you back to Marrakech.

Itinerary
Most of our tour itineraries & packages are private as we aim to clear the ground for purely cultural experiences while maintaining the delivery of personal service. However, we may take shared bookings on some occasions when the group (maximum 8) is already set. The featured price can change based on the number of passengers & the category of the desert camp.
Day 1 – Marrakech – Chichaoua – Essaouira
Early pick-up from your hotel/Riad, then head to Essaouira. En route, your private English-speaking driver will present you with a historical overview of Essaouira, travel tips, things to do and see, and much more. You may want to include a short break in a local women’s Argan Cooperative, this is an optional experience you can opt for; otherwise, you can skip it and continue the drive. Women in this region are accustomed to collecting and picking the Argan seeds from the trees, cracking and roasting them to make Argan oil. Otherwise, it is used for making cosmetic products…
Once you arrive in Essaouira, you may want to explore the local harbor that is still in operation to this day and where they build boats using traditional methods. Essaouira was once called Mogador after the Portuguese who initially constructed it before it was expanded and reinforced by Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah.
Essaouira has a reputation as the “hippie happy land” which has solidified over the past decades with big-name artists like Jimmi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa, Cat Stevens, and Maria Callas. Since then, ever more artists and music lovers have been drawn to the city to rejoice in its rhythm and immerse themselves in its quiet and calm.
It’s recommended to taste the delicious and fresh fish of this coastal city in one of its local restaurants or in the fish food stalls.
You may want to meander around the vibrant alleyways with its small shops selling souvenirs without neglecting to make a visit to the local fish market.
In the late afternoon, your private driver will get you back to Marrakech.
We’ll make sure to drop you off at your chosen accommodation or arrange with the staff members of your Riad to come escort you if you are staying within the old walls of Marrakech’s Medina.
